To Your Health Presents Program on A-Fib

“Atrial Fibrillation (A-Fib): Everything You Need to Know and More” will be presented by Daniel van Buren, M.D., Board Certified Cardiologist, on Thursday, February 7, from 4:30 to 6:00 pm at the West Parish Congregational Church in Bethel, downstairs hall. Snow date is February 14. The program is sponsored by To Your Health of Western Mountains Senior College.

Dr. Daniel van Buren
Dr. van Buren presented a similar program two years ago, which was very well received. To Your Health has had many requests to repeat the program and Dr. van Buren said he would be happy to discuss atrial fibrillation again. “It is a common diagnosis and some new therapies are available since the last talk.”

Bethel resident Dr. van Buren has been a part of To Your Health presentations during American Heart Month for the past six years. He is pleased to further educate his community about heart disease. In updating the program, he said, “We will discuss the most up-to-date medical and procedural therapies available to treat atrial fibrillation.”

Atrial fibrillation is an abnormal rhythm of the heart where the upper chambers do not work correctly because of abnormal electrical activity. It can lead to complications and serious heart conditions and increase a person’s risk of stroke. Dr. van Buren will answer any questions and have handouts available.

Dr. van Buren is Director of Cardiovascular Medicine at the New England Institute at Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin, NH. He is board certified in internal medicine, adult echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and cardiovascular disease. He completed his internal medicine and cardiology training in Brooklyn, NY. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

To Your Health is sponsored by WMSC as a community service with the collaboration of Bethel Family Health Center and MSAD#44/Continuing Education. The public is invited and admission is free. Light refreshments available. For more information contact Peter Musso (207-890-7034).
